BTS Star V’s Single Grows By Nearly 600% In Sales
None of the seven members of BTS ever have a difficult time selling music, especially when they have something new to share. That’s especially true when it comes to V, who proves his impressive ability to move large numbers of a single this time around, as one of his most recent tunes racks up a sizable sales sum, weeks after it first became a bestseller.
“Winter Ahead” sold a little more than 1,500 copies in the U.S. during the last tracking week. The period before, the same cut was only purchased by a little more than 200 people in the country.
Luminate reports that from one week to the next, V’s “Winter Ahead” sales sum exploded by 586%. What spurred such a large gain in purchases?
On December 20, V released a new take on “Winter Ahead,” which his American followers rushed to buy. The tune was reworked by the Yun Seok Cheol Trio, a renowned jazz group based in South Korea. They put a new spin on the track, and those who love both that act, but primarily V, were eager to support the remix (of sorts).
While “Winter Ahead” may have jumped several hundred.
percentage points in sales, the 1,500 copies it moved weren’t enough to make the single a hit again in the U.S., at least not on the Billboard charts. This frame is simply too packed with huge Christmas singles for V to compete, but the growth is still laudable.
“Winter Ahead” was already a collaboration before the jazz act got involved. The tune is credited to both V and ballad South Korean singer Park Hyo Shin, who scored his first hits in the U.S. thanks to the high-profile release.
V debuted “Winter Ahead” on a number of Billboard charts in mid-December, when the track became a bestseller. The single opened at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales ranking, earning the BTS star his second career champion. It also reached the Hot 100, where it peaked at No. 99, barely managing to crack the list.
